As we celebrate World Environment Day today, this is a great time to put a spotlight on what we assist in every day – Upcycling.
“Upcycling also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value.”
What about the new build, is there a place for upcycling?
Renovation projects often see the end of use for many materials, fittings and fixtures in the home. The salvage process assists the community in the reuse of some of these items and materials. It facilitates the reuse in other homes, where they are loved all over again by another homeowner, given a new life. This is common for doors, windows and other significant pieces from period homes.
Furniture adds character to a home and shows personality. Aside from fittings and fixtures, bringing upcycled furniture into the home is a unique and beautiful way to enter the upcycling movement.
Show your love for a special period of interiors with artwork of the era or unique objects that highlight the period or history of the home and area.
